While Steve Hildebrand, the out deputy campaign manager for Barack Obama, is being bandied about as a potential replacement for DNC Chair Howard Dean, all he's dreaming of is going back from whence he came.
"I’m going home to South Dakota to be with my partner and my dog," Hildebrand told me. When I mentioned rumors about him potentially heading up the DNC, he just laughed. "I would rather put a bullet through my head. I mean that’s nothing that will happen."
Usually, when politicians deny that they want a job, it's all part of the DC courting process. But Hildebrand's no politician and something tells me he wasn't just being coy. (Kerry Eleveld)

I really like that the fact that president-elect Obama isn't affraid to put gays around him. Hell, Rahm was a ballerina for most of his life... need i say more.
i think gays will have the right to marry (Federal(Supreme Court)) by the end of Obamas second term. "good things are worth waiting for".

As a professional in the ballet world, I feel compelled to educate you a bit. Male dancers are not referred to as ballerinas. Also, there are many heterosexual male dancers, contrary to what you may believe. In all my years in the dance world ( and I am 50 years old), I have come across equal numbers of homosexual and heterosexual men in the profession.
Rahm Emmanuel studied dance for many years growing up, received a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School and turned it down in favor of attending Sarah Lawrence College where he studied dance among other things. He is married and a father, if that makes any difference.
I, too, like the fact that Obama is not afraid to have gay advisers, etc.

I, for one, will be disappointed if Steve Hildebrand doesn't take a significant role in the new administration. His leadership in the campaign was inspiring. While I think he'd be a breath of fresh air at the DNC, I can also understand why he might avoid it like the plague given some of the nasty internecine warfare there over the past couple of years.

Oh, and as a choreographer and former professional dancer, instead of viewing Rahm Emmanuel's dance training as indicative of any aspect of his sexual orientation, I prefer to look at it as having an advocate for the arts at the highest level of the White House heirarchy.
