Our intern Kandice came from Phoenix, planning to marry her lovely fiancee. They're going to go through with the ceremony anyway, but after Prop 8 passed, she decided the best way for Angelenos to read anything was to stick it into the middle of rush hour traffic.
Call it something else and you can do anything you want with that amazing fiance. Have a commitment ceremony. Serve cake and punch and dance the night away. No one took that right away from same sex couples. You can still be a homosexual. You still get all the rights promised in the CA domestic partnership law of 2005...you can even adopt children! No one is going to burn YOUR house down for being a homosexual. But, because I voted yes on Prop. 8, I have had my home and my children threatened with DEATH. Thanks..that is really going to help your cause.

I'm really happy to see the gay community come out in numbers over this: it seems too often we are disorganized and/or too busy partying when these disgusting hateful 'christian' hypocrites go on their rampages. I just hope that the protests and the visibility over this issue don't quickly fade: gay people need to keep organizing protests in the thousands, distributing literature to the minority communities about why voting for Prop 8 is equally as barbaric and wrong as the Jim Crow laws in the South for blacks. They also need to do a better job of reaching out to young people in the collegs because that is where polls show we had the highest rate of success.

Lina, by voting for Prop 8, you did something deeply wrong. You deliberately attacked gays and tried to harm them. Don't act the victim now. You'll get no sympathy.

Lina, that's really very unfortunate. I'm sorry that you have been threatened (and you should tell the police about it). But, as a gay man, I'm threatened everyday. You should hear some of the threats that I've had to deal with - death would be a release after what people have promised to do to me. Unfortunately, now you probably understand how I feel everyday. Imagine how it would feel to explain to your children how you and and your spouse can't marry like their friends' parents. Imagine losing all of your federal benefits (civil unions are not recognized federally). Try and have at least some of the empathy that I have for you.

One more point, Lina. You objectify us as a group and you probably aren't even aware of doing so. You write "...you can still be a homosexual." Excuse me, but I am gay or a gay man. I don't refer to you as "a" heterosexual.

There is a NATIONAL PROTEST this Saturday, November 15.
Every major city across the US is staging rallies at city halls simultaneously.

Death threats are always wrong, Lena, and please note there have been no shortage of death threats and murders of people for being gay (e.g. Matthew Shepard). What gay person has murdered someone for being straight?
Furthermore, your comment that you can still be homosexual suggests one chooses sexual orientation, just like one chooses a religion to follow.

Um, Lina, this is a 'homosexual' magazine on-line site.
What are you doing here?
Unless you 'putt from the rough' (as Granpa used to say) go back to your bridge, troll.

Domestic partnership isn't enough when it comes to some corporations/companies that only cover MARRIED people. Even though New Jersey's partnership laws were intended to give as much coverage to gay/lesbians, the companies got around having to follow the law because these couples aren't married. Marriage is marriage, and not one heterosexual marriage in Massachusetts, Canada or anywhere else has ever been in danger because two guys or women got married. The divorce rate is 50% without our help.
